Thank you Jane Henry, this series just gets better. This is Valentino and Torin's story, it is the fourth book in the McCarthy Legacy series, it can be read as a standalone but I would urge reading the series in sequence, you won't regret it. Valentina Esposito is standing on the auction platform, she has been abused where it doesn't show, abused by her captors and now she was up for auction to the highest bidder and will be taken to heaven knows where. Valentina was the daughter of the Esposito family, a family high in the Boston Italian mafia, she had no idea who her kidnappers were or why. Torin McCarthy was the highest bidder, Torin belonged the the Irish McCarthy mafia, they had long issues with the Esposito mafia. Torin has spent many years in jail for a crime that he didn't commit, he had to fight to stay alive, it made him hard, it made him tough, and the Torin that came out of jail wasn't the Torin who went in. Torin's family welcomed him home with open arms but they had a task for him and he was immediately flown to Boston to buy Valentina Esposito in an auction. Valentina didn't know who to trust, there were rumours that her family had a hand in her kidnapping but Valentina would never believe that, she loved her brothers, she didn't trust Torin, the McCarthy's were her family's enemies. Torin had no idea of the trouble that Valentina would give him, she was no shrinking Violet, she was a mafia daughter and she had been taught to fight and she would fight Torin every step of the way. Both Valentina and Torin has their demons to fight, nightmares from their time in captivity, their love grew slowly although the attraction was always there, they faced danger together, they learned to trust each other despite the mafia wars that were stretching over continents. Valentina fell in love with Ireland and the McCarthy family but would it be enough to keep her from Boston and her brothers. This story has great characters, feisty Valentina and badass Torin are a match made in heaven, the story is fast paced, action packed and suspense filled, it is about family loyalties, mafia laws, of love that grows from anger, the author leaves hints of a further book, I do hope that it is Bronwyn's story.
