I’m giving this novel a 4 but I’m really feeling a 3.5 because I felt frustrated by all of the seemingly unnecessary incomplete filler chapters that just added confusion to the plot. I much prefer The Thursday Murder Club series. I do like Steve and Amy and Rosie and the rest of the locals where Steve lives. Maybe, if the series continues, it will find a more solid footing.
Once I figured out the authors writing style I couldn’t put it down.
An enjoyable read, endearing characters. The plot was fairly simple to follow but had enough of a twist here and there to keep me interested.
What an amazing, fun read about a bodyguard, the eccentric and irreverent best-selling author she’s hired to protect, and an ex-police detective, who get thrown into the thick of solving murders while outrunning the assassin fast on their trails. I caught myself laughing a few times, and found other moments were very poignant, especially in relationships lost and new life purposes found. Amy, the bodyguard, is married to Andrew, a hedge fund broker, but they never see each other because they’re both jetting all over the world for business. Andrew’s dad is Steve, the ex-cop, who speaks daily with Amy, no matter where she is in the world. They have a better relationship than he does with his own son. Steve also regularly talks to his dead wife, Debbie, who acts as his sounding board when he’s facing a decision. And Rosie, the author, was a deadpan hoot and life of the party. I enjoyed the ride, and I’m ready for another round of bring on the next book with this crew!
The airport scene was my final straw🤷🏾♀️
