I very much enjoyed this book, very few books make me tear up and this one did. I will say some connecting plot points were predictable but in the way it was written and when the connections were made in the book, if you weren't paying attention you would have missed it. So I didn't mind the predictability at all, it brought the story together in a beautiful way. I really liked the characters in this book and in showing the good and evil of people.

“A novel based on a true story of survival, friendship and redemption” This was a slow burn Historical Fiction story that started really strong, but lost my attention. I remember being so angry with Mairin’s mom for sending her daughter to this Catholic Reform School aka hell hole. It was awful! I think it was timing since I had a lot going on at the time I listened to it. Would absolutely recommend it for fans of historical fiction and strong & brave women!
