The things that would normally shock other people about this story don’t really shock me. Then again, I’ve been labeled a freak plenty of times so there is no surprise there. However, definitely check what triggers you because this is a dark romance. The writing is fine, but it was mostly boring in my opinion. And way too long. I was ready to give up when I was very close to the end. I had to force myself to finish. I think if there was better characterization for Zoey and Carter and something stronger plot-wise to make things interesting, this would have been stronger. There needed to be something more than, “Carter is so bad for me and I should stay away but I won’t because there’s just something about him.” Also, I don’t like Carter being the one to basically sweep in at the end to make things better/easy. Hated that.
