Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less than, Left Out, and Lonely

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Do you ever feel left out, lonely, or less than? Learn the secret of belonging, which will help you keep rejections in perspective and be better equipped to foster healthy connections in your relationships.

New York Times bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst shares her own deeply personal experiences of rejection from the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over to the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father. She leans in to honestly examine the roots of rejection, as well as rejection's ability to poison relationships from the inside out, including our relationship with God. With biblical depth, gut-honest vulnerability, and refreshing wit, Lysa will help you:

  • Stop feeling left out by believing that even when you are overlooked by others you are handpicked by God.
  • Change your tendency to either fall apart or control the actions of others by embracing God-honoring ways to process your hurt.
  • Know exactly what to pray for the next ten days to steady your soul and restore your confidence in the midst of rejection.
  • Overcome the two core fears that feed your insecurities by understanding the secret of belonging.

Uninvited reminds us we are destined for a love that can never be diminished, tarnished, shaken, or taken--a love that does not reject, but instead accepts and invites.

This is a book I picked up at a local little thrift bookstore near me and it was my first book I read written by Lysa TerKeurst. I instantly got sucked into her book and began listening to her on YouTube and her podcasts. I have since gotten like 3 more of her books! Every page I read feels like she's sitting across the table and talking with me over a cup of coffee or tea. She has so much to teach through her experiences, with her faith, and yet she brings it in a humble, quirky kind of way that truly captivates you.

Oh my word. This book touched me in ways I didn't expect. This is exactly what I needed right now during the trials I am facing. It felt as if this book was written just for me. With books like this I like to share my main takeaways so I will do the same with this one.

First access without application will not equal transformation. If we don't apply God's word to our lives we wont be changed. Inspiration and Information without personal application will not equal transformation. Ref: Romans 12:2

Secondly what happened yesterday cannot be changed but it can be forgiven. The voices of condemnation, shame and rejection can come at you but they don't have to reside in you. It is within you to let it all go and let God be God.

Finally think about these questions when facing a new challenge. One Have I sought out God's truth in the situation? Two have I applied God's truth without compromise to the situation and three do I now own this truth as a personal revelation from God to use in future situations.
