Imagine walking in on your fiancé actively cheating on you… and somehow everyone, including him, thinks it makes total sense that you wouldn’t recognize the other woman. That’s the level of logic this book plays with. And yet I was completely hooked.
Uninvited is messy, dramatic, a little bonkers, and wildly entertaining. It stretches plausibility to the max (and then keeps stretching), but I couldn’t stop reading. Emily Shiner knows how to write characters who are emotionally chaotic but strangely compelling, and she pulls you deep into their world, even when you’re yelling “WHAT?!” every few pages.
This is my second book by the author, and once again she delivered a twist I didn’t see coming, which is always a win. The ending didn’t pack quite as much punch as I’d hoped, but the ride there was pure psychological popcorn. Fast-paced, bingeable, and perfect when you want to escape into someone else’s complete disaster of a life.
