Well that hurt my feelings

Audiobook review. While a large part of the story was steadily a three star for me, the last quarter and the twist ending pushed it into four stars. That was where we saw the most artistry and creativity come forth. I wasn’t a huge fan of Elena and she was frustrating a lot of the time but I definitely saw some growth in her character. Christian, The Silencer, The Executioner, and the slew of supporting characters made the plot complex and interesting. The narrators did a phenomenal job bringing the characters to life. In particular The Silencer and his menacing laugh are unforgettable. Please heed trigger warnings if you’re interested in reading or listening to this as it does deal with sensitive topics. I honestly don't even know where to begin. I've been in a reading slump for pretty much most of 2025 thus far and this book 1000% took me out of that reading slump. I went through so many emotions while reading about Elena's and Christian's life. Oh, my goodness...and regardless of what everyone says...Christian's love for Elena. Captivating, truly. I will say that not all books are meant to be roses and fairy tales. I felt seen in this book in so many ways too. Nearing the end of the book...I was completely crushed and didn't know what to do with my self. I was one hot mess. I am still not sure if another book will be able to top this one for 2025. Highly recommend to read, but obviously read with caution. Ariel did outstanding...very well written and captivated the reader with her words.

OK 6.5 🌟 rounded up. It was a bit predictable for me personally as I picked up on the clues however WTF was that ending. I never anticipated that. Spice was good..

I honestly didn’t even know where to start with this book. I had heard so many people talk about how intense it was, but I still wasn’t ready. Under Your Scars had me hooked from the very first chapter. The book starts off with Elena, who’s just trying to become a lawyer, even if that means working and living in a really dangerous town. One night while walking home, she almost gets attacked, but she’s saved by a masked man AKA The Silencer. At first, he gives off serious vigilante, Batman-type vibes because he only kills bad people. He starts stalking Elena. On top of that, Elena also catches the attention of her boss, Christian. He’s super rich, pretty lonely, and falls for her fast. Elena doesn’t understand why either of them are so interested in her, especially since she starts feeling a connection with both of them too. What I really liked about this book was watching both main characters grow, both on their own and together. The whole book gave me all the feels. I also loved the writing style and how detailed everything was, there were no questions unanswered. The twists and turns kept things interesting the whole way through, and I was hooked from beginning to end. This book is very dark, so if you have any triggers, you should definitely check before reading it. Overall, Under Your Scars is intense, emotional, and hard to put down.
