Keyanna âKeyâ MacKay is used to secrets. Raised by a single father who never divulged his past, itâs only after his death that she finds herself thrust into the world heâd always refused to speak of. With just a childhood bedtime story about a monster that saved her fatherâs life and the name of her estranged grandmother to go off of, Key has no idea what sheâll find in Scotland. But repeating her fatherâs mistakes and being rescued by a gorgeous, angry Scotsmanâwho thinks sheâs an idiotâis definitely the last thing she expects.
Lachlan Greer has his own secrets to keep, especially from the bonnie lass he pulls to safety from the slippery shoreâa lass with captivating eyes and the last name heâs been taught not to trust. Heâs looking for answers as well, and Keyâs presence on the grounds they both now occupy presents a real problem. Itâs even more troublesome when he gets a front row seat to the lukewarm welcome Key receives from her family; the strange powers she begins to develop; and the fierce determination she brings to every obstacle in her path. Things he shouldnât care about, and someone he definitely doesnât find wildly attractive.
When their secrets collide, it becomes clear that Lachlan could hold the answers Keyanna is afterâand that she might also be the key to uncovering his. Up against time, mystery, and a centuries old curse, theyâll quickly discover that magic might not only be in fairy tales, and that love can be a real loch-mess.

Solid romcom I'd say. The mystery aspect was pretty fetching and they built out the plot and development for that very well. I didn't really know exactly how it was going to pan out until the end, but it wasn't exactly jaw dropping either.
The small town vibe is very well built out and the side characters are all cute. The main couple has a strong chemistry throughout although it kind of gets very fluffy towards the end as not as banter-y. I will say that the concept in general is just fun and unserious and it's a good read to pass the time.

I can't talk about how much I enjoyed reading the book! The characters were fun and the banter was amazing!
I really enjoyed this book! It was a classic 'enemies to lovers' tale, but with twist and turns. I couldn't put it down.
