The Fake Mate
Two wolf shifters agree to be fake mates but unexpectedly find something real in this steamy paranormal romantic comedy by Lana Ferguson. Mackenzie Carter has had some very bad dates lately. Model train experts, mansplainers, guys weirdly obsessed with her tail--she hasn't had a successful date in months. Only a year out of residency, her grandmother's obsession with Mackenzie finding the perfect mate to settle down with threatens to drive Mackenzie barking mad. Out of options, it feels like a small thing to tell her grandmother that she's met someone. That is, until she blurts out the name of the first man she sees and the last man she would ever date: Noah Taylor, the big bad wolf of Denver General. Noah Taylor, interventional cardiologist and all around grump, has spent his entire life hiding what he is. With outdated stigmas surrounding unmated alphas that have people wondering if they still howl at the moon, Noah has been careful to keep his designation under wraps. It's worked for years, until an anonymous tip has everything coming to light. Noah is left with two options: come clean to the board and risk his career--or find himself a mate. The chatty, overly friendly ER doctor asking him to be her fake boyfriend on the same day he's called to meet the board has to be kismet, right? Mackenzie will keep her grandmother off her back, and Noah will get a chance to prove he can continue to work without a real mate--a mutually beneficial business transaction, they both rationalize. But when the fake-mate act turns into a very real friends-with-benefits arrangement, lines start to blur, and they quickly realize love is a whole different kind of animal.

A little too long for my taste. Could have been cut short by a lot. Skipped a lot from the halfway mark - they were having too much sex, to put it bluntly, but that's only part of it. Have to say I really enjoyed the first half and was anticipating a 5-star read all the way, so I was very disappointed by the time I finished this.
Characters-wise, I really like Mackenzie's personality. She's the kind of person I'd love to be around. Noah is the opposite of her, the brooding, surly type, but he's pretty cool once one takes the time to know him. I didn't stay for them both though. I stayed to know what happens to the slimy doctor who has beef with Noah. I feel so done trying to understand characters who don't know that they have already fallen in love. They just keep going on and on - what is this feeling? Why am I feeling like this? So overused and it drags the whole thing needlessly.
Recommended to those who like the alpha-omega shifter type of stories in a modern setting, where shifters and non-shifters live side by side (this is the one thing I find interesting about this book). Highly recommended to those who love lots of steam with a cheesy plot.

this was giving love hypothesis but with werewolves and a lot more smut. and honestly, i ain’t mad at it.
This book just introduce me to the omegaverse and I love it. This was something fresh to read super fast pased book to read. And Noah was just to cute and it had what I love faked dating
The TikTok rec video said prepare for spice so I went into this book with an open mind. However I must humbly say my mind was not open enough! The story line was great and sweet but the spice definitely took the cake. So the book is a grumpy/ sunshine, omega-verse and it was amazing. It was fast paced and Noah is so sweet. I wished they were a bit more open and honest about their feelings much sooner but overall it was an amazing read. If you like books where he's so in love and can barely control himself around her (especially when they are intimate) then this is the book to read. There's nothing like being talked through it! Mackenzie on the other hand is a complete sweetheart. She wasn't shy about wanting him in the beginning and when her feelings started showing she start backing out but still it was a nice and enjoyable read.
This book was quite good, the second act break up was annoying but is what it is.
I would recommend the books yes, it’s just not a 5star for me.
