This was one of those books that I'd been seeing around for what feels like forever. It was also one of those books that I then wasn't in a rush to read. I'm weird like that. The more you tell me I'll like it, the less likely I am to pick it up. This book was worth picking up. There's nothing really new here. Dystopia. Teenagers. Rebellion. Big problem in the civilization. But despite that I really enjoyed it. Maybe that's because I've read too many poorly rendered versions in recent years. Maybe it's just Scott Westerfield's writing style (gripping). Whatever the reason, this was the first book in a teen series I've read in a long time where I was audibly disappointed that the first book ended. I can't wait for the second one. I only rated it four out of five for the predictability. That, however, did not make it less enjoyable for me. Must read. The next one.
