True to You (A Bradford Sisters Romance)

Winner of the 2018 Christy Award Book of the Year
After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

I haven't written a review for a book in a while because I haven't had the time to do so. It's just been read and move on.
But this book was different. Yes, it was a romance, and yes, it was a Christian romance. So it fit many of the traditional bullet points for such a book. But it was still different.
1) The Christian content was just..WOW! So powerful! If this is how Becky Wade writes all the time (so raw and honest, so much Christ) then I am going to be reading a lot more of her!
2) The characters were typical fictional characters and a little too perfect at times, but there was an amount of imperfection I just loved.
3) Yes, there was a certain degree of insta-love, but there was also plenty of doses of reality. The characters were not left in fantasy land about each other or their circumstances.
So, so much appreciation for this book, and that brings us to
4) I could relate to Nora. A LOT! So much of what she does (hello, clicking the lock button twice on her key fob! LOL) and who she is and her faith is so much like me or like someone I would genuinely like and respect. Honestly. Never have I though "Same...SAME!" as much during a book as I did with this one.
I really respect Becky Wade for how she wrote this book and I hope her others follow along the same vein!
