Sanderson definitely turned up the dial when it came to Mat. Unlike some, I don't think he ruined him. Yes, he's a bit more ridiculous than he usually is, but that's okay.
Now, I've got all sorts of opinions about Egwene and the way she is handling Rand, but I'm not sure I have time for that. Despite the fact the she is driving me crazy, her character growth is off the charts! She has developed into a cunning and strong Amyrlin. Unfortunately, that is one of the reasons I don't like her. Everything and everyone is something to be used, a tool. She's a manipulater and I hate that. Her friends are tools first, human beings second.
This is a long book, but it doesn't drag along. There's many open storylines and subplots, which makes for a long book, and Sanderson does a great job of moving those along and tying them up! No more lollygagging. The Last Battle is here. Tai'shar Malkier!!
I read (read: listened to) this book on Audible and I have nothing but high praise for Michael Kramer and Kate Reading. Kate, your Shaidar Haran voice is very impressive! My throat hurst just listening to it! You both bring so much life to this story and the characters, you give them a voice.
