I loved this series. Full stop.
Sarah J. Maas really went all in here—this isn’t just fantasy romance, it’s a full-blown epic. Assassins, kingdoms, magic, war, heartbreak… it has everything. And somehow, across multiple books, it just keeps getting better.
The character development? Incredible. You grow with them, you suffer with them, and by the end you feel like you’ve been through a war yourself.
Now—yes, yes, I get it. Everyone is obsessed with Rowan. And don’t get me wrong, he earns it. BUT.
Elide and Lorcan??
Underrated. Superior. Deserve their own book immediately.
Elide Lochan and Lorcan Salvaterre have that tension, that slow-burn, that “touch her and you die but also I don’t know how to handle feelings” energy that just hits different. Every scene with them had me locked in. Their dynamic is messy, emotional, and completely addictive—and honestly, I would read an entire spin-off series about just them.
The series as a whole balances action and emotion so well. You’ll get epic battles one minute and gut-punch emotional moments the next. And when it hurts? It hurts.

This series is powerful, immersive, and absolutely worth the emotional investment. It’s one of those stories that stays with you long after you finish.
