Jennifer Hillier has become one of my favorite authors! Loved this one!!
While this book is entertaining and maintains a sense of thrill and suspense, having you on tenterhooks till the climax, it is certainly not the best thriller I’ve ever read. I think this is mainly because I find the lead character rather bland. She’s a victim of horrific acts and yet doesn’t quite move me to tears as I’d expect someone to who had undergone that kind of trauma. The antagonist though, does inspire a kind of hate within me, so kudos to the author for that.
If you’re on the fence about this one, maybe the following summation will help you decide:
Paris Peralta, after being accused of murdering her celebrity husband, is thrust into the spotlight - the absolutely last place she wants to be. Why? She’s hiding secrets and there’s murder in her past. What follows are alternating timelines that follow a victim of abuse and a sociopathic mother and Paris herself… intersecting in interesting ways towards the end.

It was a decent story. Ok writing style. A bit predictable. The Italy saw the twist coming. Overall it was not a waste of my time.
Sad story but a twisted juicy book! Was hoping for more at the end tho.
