Dark. Indulging initially, but takes a turn of events that feels rushed and uncomfortable. The change in pace makes it harder to follow along with the story.
Open ended conclusion, though I find it to be less than so. It feels almost as if there is no ending at all; there is no action that closes up the string of events and puts them into perspective.
There is great potential for the overlying plot and it is clear Eric is a lovely writer. That said, the story mimics that almost of trauma porn; a rather unfortunate take.
Had some good concepts, but I feel like they're overshadowed by the fact that this was written by a man, albeit a queer one. Pregnancy as a parasite, relationships as one as well, and the guilty party deciding to leave once her morbid curiosity of 'how far can i take this' becomes 'this is too much for me to take into my conscience'. Some mildly interesting discussions to be had about internet anonymity, as well as love and desperation as consumption and violence. Could have been a much more interesting and impactful story, but it feels like a first draft. It's unfinished and underdeveloped, and the writer hasn't lived the experience of the characters and audience he is writing for, so it falls flat.
