There Are No Saints (Sinners Duet, 1)

She knows he's no saint, but she has no idea she's dancing with the devil.

Cole Blackwell values control. He's the hottest sculptor in San Francisco--wealthy, successful, and respected. His only weakness is the dark impulse he carefully conceals. In truth, he's not just an artist: he's a predator, and the city is his hunting ground.

Mara Eldritch is a nobody. Broke and damaged, she works three jobs while creating paintings no one will ever see. When a chance encounter throws Mara into Cole's path, her escape from certain death fascinates Cole. More than that--it fixates him.

He begins stalking her, discovering there's more to the struggling misfit than he would have guessed. She makes him feel things he never thought he could feel. Want things he thought he'd never want. He doesn't know if he should protect her at all costs or destroy her before she ruins him. He's losing control, breaking the rules that have kept his true nature hidden from the world.

Mara knows he's dangerous, but Cole is the only person who's ever recognized her talent, and it leads her heart astray, straight into the dark.

Cole can teach her to get what she wants...but what might this vicious killer want in return?

Summary: Everyone carries sins—some they regret, others they embrace. This is especially true for Shaw and Blackwell as they navigate their ruthless careers. One girl has the power to change everything, shifting Blackwell’s view of the world. Shaw, a relentless killing machine, and Blackwell, a silent predator, both create art—but only one turns their victims into masterpieces. Will Shaw eliminate the one person Blackwell is fixated on, or will Blackwell take her down first? Review: There Are No Saints is more like a merry-go-round of chaos. The main characters are constantly wrestling with their emotions, while Shaw and Blackwell are locked in a relentless competition—like a never-ending pissing contest. At its core, it’s the classic story of a girl entering the picture, and one of them determined to take her away. While this ended on a subtle cliffhanger, I’d honestly be fine if it just stopped there. It didn’t exactly leave me craving more, but of course, I still have to finish the series. I’d gladly take Mister Cole Blackwell purely for the kink, Mara can stay locked in a room with her damsel-in-distress energy. I don’t think I’d recommend this one. The book was just meh, and since it was recommended to me, I wouldn’t subject someone else to the same disappointment. Unless you’re here for the kink—then just skip to Chapter 30 and enjoy.

FMC is an artist struggling to survive through poverty and fixing to be homeless. One night in an art show, not one, but two serial killers (also rival artists) lay eyes on her. One of them (MMC) is completely captivated by her for reasons he doesn't understand, and the other really just wants to hurt/kill her. FMC gets half murdered and is left for dead but manages to get home and begin healing. When our other serial killer, MMC, sees her walking one day, he decides he is basically gonna step in and begin manipulating things in her life. She needs an art studio/somewhere to sleep, so he provides. While he is a rich and successful artist, is unfamiliar with real emotions. So when he takes her under his wing to try and help aid her in success, he begins feeling things that he doesn't understand. He also uses the bones of his victims to create his sculptures.

This was an amazing read. The FMC is strong, fearless, stubborn, resilient…. She’s everything I love in a FMC and more. I’m not sure how I feel about Cole just yet, but we’ll see….I love that it’s plot heavy, but still has a bit of spice. 10/10 absolutely recommend!
