What a marvelous series! I have read and loved all the Wild Robot books. In this adventure, Roz sets out to solve an environmental crisis. There is a poison tide affected all the marine life and coastal life. The coastal animals, like the sea otters, are forced to move inland, causing problems with maintaining enough fresh water for all the animals. Plant life along the coastal areas has died off and there is a forest fire, again forcing more displacement. Roz discovers that with her new body she is now waterproof and goes beneath the ocean to find the source of the poison tide and put a stop to it. What a wonderful story of environmentalism, the food chain, animals working together to solve a problem. (If only human beings would be more like this!) Roz is determined to resolve the problem without resorting to violence. She shows kindness and compassion, even towards those who once imprisoned her. The love she has for her adopted son, Brightbill and his family, is charming. How Peter Brown was able to incorporate themes of home, family, environmental protection, and technology is amazing. This story is actually quite plausible in many respects since it is not inconceivable that there will be more demand for robots in the future and also mankind will be forced to conduct mining operations in order to find rare minerals necessary to maintaining their new technology. This book is written for children ages 8-12, but is also a good one for adults to read. I was a former children's librarian and often find some of the best books published are those written for children or young adults. This is the third book in a series, and I'd recommend reading the first book, The Wild Robot first.

Love reading this aloud with my family we have hung on since the first book in the series. Following Roz as she attempts to save the island as well as the globe from the tide. Providing perspective on how humans are destroying the environment in this kid friendly new twist. Don’t miss this one Roz and her family are finally complete.
