Having not realized that this was a mystery, the title at first made me think that this was going to be chick lit, which is not my genre, so I was pleasantly surprised. This is quite a good book, and I liked it, but I didn’t love it. The writing held my interest and was even thrilling in some parts. The details about India and the different cultures and customs were fascinating. Purveen is interesting but sometimes frustrating and eventually heroic. I’m not as fond of Alice, but she turned out to be a good friend. If this turns into a series, I would read more of these books. Overall, a satisfying read.
I never read mysteries but I enjoyed this because it shared so much about the culture and traditions of India. The information about the Purdah and arranged marriages was fascinating.
