Pretty solid mystery/thriller with likable characters, just felt that it was all a bit predictable. I also liked that the chapters were short and from several different POVs.
Let’s face it. This book was trash and doomed from the beginning. None of it made any sense at all. This book was supposed to be scary, but it was very bland, very boring, I had to fight to finish it.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!! I cannot recommend it enough. Out of alllll the horror/thrillers I’ve read, this one is by far one of my favorites.
The character development is phenomenal. The twists (yes, there’s MULTIPLE. not all at the end. they’re like perfectly spaced out) ARE LITERALLY PERFECT. I loved this book. The plot made it super eerie, i think the concept of the whisper man was so awesome as well! Super unique for sure.
Deeefinitely recommend this book for anyone who’s wanting a book to get under your skin, it’s not a classic horror novel with the paranormal, haunted houses, etc. but Alex North did a phenomenal job writing this book.
First of all... I really need to be better at leaving at review for books.
Do you know how hard it is to review something you read 5 months ago?
But what I can't forget.. is that feeling I had when I was reading the first couple of chapters in
The Whisper Man...
It was that feeling of when you're watching a scary movie and you're on the edge of your seat,
your heart racing a little,
if I had been eating movie butter popcorn, I would've been shoving one piece after another in my mouth at the anticipation of this book.
Alex North brings alive his books.
So much that I'm still recommending this book to everyone in my personal life, and to every bookstagrammer who asked for recs and "what's your favorite book of 2020?"
I read his following book, The Shadows, which was kind of subpar after reading this one.
So if you haven't read either, read that one first, then
The Whisper Man...
