The story of Niyah and Sintinio is very heavy.. be sure to check trigger warnings.. I almost DNF’d because a lot went on that was too much for me.. the story was interesting but still too heavy for my liking.. Sintonio had killed Niyah’s younger brother, unbeknownst to him at the time.. however Isiah got caught in a shootout and the bullet wasn’t meant for him, but he was killed. Sintonio didn’t know it was actually Niyah’s brother until they were already dating and he was falling for her deeply.. when he did find the courage to let her know she was heartbroken 💔 and pushed him away as she battled her emotions.. also while dealing with a crazy ex Derrick, who was down low and had his own issues.. but decided to kidnap and rape her as punishment for leaving him.. he let some of the guys who helped him rape and violate her as well.. Sintonio found her when Derrick sent the pics from her phone, as her location was still on.. him and the boys: Juelz, Mar & Kane came to rescue her and killed all of them.. when she was brought to the hospital , she was not only fighting for her own life, but also the life of twins she didn’t know she was carrying.. after the initial trauma, she slowly began to heal with therapy.. Sintonio turned his life around and started flipping houses.. they also got married, had twins boy Zion & girl Zuri.. 3yrs later she was pregnant again with another girl.. her friend Tasha & his mom Mrs. Jackson really helped her along her journey as well as Sintonio and his crew.. and even though, she eventually found peace again and felt normal, it was sick, twisted and too much for me.
I’d give this a millions ⭐️s if I could.
Camille V. did her big one with this book! My gawd my emotions are still all over the place and I’m debating if I should pour me a strong one at 2pm in the middle of my work day.
I did not prepare myself for the emotional ride this book took me and my book girlies through. We had full on facetime calls to check on each other LOL!
You immediately fall in love with Niyah because she is doing everything to be successful and take care of her brother since her mom left them. You can tell her situation with Derrick is not great but she’s making it work.
You are pulled in by Sintonio and his crew because you know they’re talk of the streets, but the crew antics keep you laughing.
Then…YOU CRY!! I mean ugly cry. When bullets fly, they have no name and the crew are men with a healthy conscience. They move with intention and when things go wrong they are remorseful. They aren’t bad men. They want more for themselves. So, the chance meeting of Sin and Niyah is definitely weighty and it’s only up and down from there.
This story showed that LOVE will take hold of anyone, pride will destroy from the inside out and touch everyone around you if you don’t put it down and sometimes, while sorry ain’t enough - redemption is still yours.
My gawd, I’m still a torn up mess but this read was so worth it!!!
