You can't see them. But they can see you.
This forest isn't charted on any map of Ireland. Every car breaks down at its treeline, and Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced to enter the dark and desolate woods. She discovers a woman shouting, urging her to run.
Mina reaches a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams.
The nightmare is only just beginning.
Mina finds herself trapped in a room with a wall of glass and an electric light that comes on at nightfall. Terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time, for night is when strange and sinister creatures emerge to observe their captive humans.
They are watching your every move...
Afraid and trapped among strangers, Mina is desperate for answers. Who are the Watchers, and why are they keeping humans imprisoned, so keen to watch their every move?

Once you’re in that bunker with Mina and the others, the story becomes this slow-burn psychological nightmare. The rules, the shadows, the creatures outside… it all feels mysterious and threatening in a way that gets under your skin.
The best part?
It keeps you guessing.
The world-building unfolds piece by piece, and even when you think you’ve figured out what’s going on, it takes another turn.
I gave it 4 stars because, while the vibe was immaculate, some pacing moments dipped — but overall it was creepy, immersive, and very well written.
Favorite quote:
“Suppressing a smile isn’t easy. The happiness always creeps out somehow. But sadness can be stashed under the skin like a dark secret.”

Enjoyed the book & looking forward to watching the film when it comes out later this year to see how it’s portrayed as have a feeling this could be a better film than book which is rare for me!
