The Time Keeper

I read this over a decade ago for the first time when I was much younger, and revisited it; remembering the message to be good and a quick reminder of what time gives and takes away.

My preceding memory of this book still stands: this is an easy read that breaks down complex ideas of time and living vs being alive in a way that is easily digestible.

The overarching theme here, obviously, is that time- though in abundance everywhere around us and tracked in every way- is a commodity often taken for granted and missed entirely. Too much, too little, always going and never stopping.

The writing was easy, yes, and overall pleasurable to read though I felt the dialogue was ‘off’, as if the author was trying too hard to make quotes out of each chapter.

Things progressed quickly, and the depiction of a senior in high school acting as such over a boy was inaccurate (I now realize in my older state than when I read this when I was 13 HA)

But bigger than that this is a quick read and solid reminder of how precious TODAY is- and how we are not meant to know the number of our days or truly know the constructs of time, but to instead make the most of it. No matter the limitation.

3.5 Stars…. Reading Twice first really set my expectations high, so going into The Time Keeper, I was hoping for that same emotional punch. This book is thoughtful and has a strong message about time and how we choose to spend it. I liked the idea and there were moments that made me pause and reflect. That said, it felt a bit simpler and less emotionally deep than Twice. Still, it’s a meaningful, easy read and I can see why people love it.

Very new perspective, perfect characters to play out the story aswell this one had me pondering.

Pretty interesting.

Easy peasy to get through too. A quick read.

Uniquely written but heart warming. Very positive message.
