This was a lovely little book to read in between my usual suspense thrillers & historical fiction books. It was an easy book to read at the beach. Arthur is a 85 year old man who visits the cemetery every day to have lunch with his late wife. He takes his folding chair & says hello to other people on the way to his wife. While there, he meets Maddy, an 18 year old girl who is bullied at her school & lost her mother just weeks after her birth. Maddy is an old soul. Lucille is the elderly nosy neighbor who never married but hasn’t given up on love. These 3 characters form an unlikely friendship & unconventional family. I just adored Arthur. He reminded me a bit of my dad who would 100% visit my mom’s grave every day if he had a way to get there. The story is filled with love & second changes. No great suspense/thriller or much action, just a sweet feel good story. And sometimes we all need one of those.
a very sweet read, I thought the language was very simple but overall it matched the very simple plot and characters. I'm surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this book.
A truly lovely, sweet story. Predictable at times but not all perfect and overly done either. I need an Arthur Truluv in my life.
