I am probably in the minority on this one. It is a sweet little story about a bookstore and its owner. It's not a thriller, not a mystery, not a good historical fiction you can really sink your teeth into. Maybe a quaint romance? It's a nice story that reminded me of A Man Called Ove. It was corny with offbeat characters. A.J is an independent bookseller, barely coping widower more than a casual drinker but not quite alcoholic? Amelia is the quirky sales rep who takes the ferry out from Hyannis to visit Island Books. She does not seem put off by A.J.'s moodiness. Then there is the policeman (maybe he's a detective?) who seems to be A.J's only friend. A few other characters round out the cast. Then one day, A.J finds a "package" left behind in his store and slowly his gruff exterior begins to soften. Will A.J find the happiness he is longing for? It is a pleasant, quick read.
