This was one i always told myself I would read and just never did. It's been so long since I saw the movies I forgot a lot of the things in this one. It was an adorable little story. It started out about loss and with a spoiled child. It ended on a happy note with that same girl finding family, friends and her love of the secret garden.

Being a fitness coach and having a holistic approach when it comes to health, this book struck such a chord! The Secret Garden follows the life of Mary from becoming a very young orphan to flourishing as a child. Mary is sent to live with an Uncle after her parents died and is aware that people don't enjoy being around her and she also doesn't enjoy being around people. Despite experiencing loss, Mary grew up thinking that the world revolved around her, that is until she's introduced to the great outdoors and a young boy called Dickon. This story deeply explores how your mind and mental health are only as healthy as your thoughts and how nature can heal. What I particularly liked in the story was how other people's thoughts can poison your own and how affirmations and self belief were a big part of the story. A great classic of English children's literature with some really important messages 🗝️🦋🪏
