The true story of a couple who lost everything and embarked on a transformative journey walking the South West Coast Path in England
Just days after Raynor Winn learns that Moth, her husband of thirty-two years, is terminally ill, their house and farm are taken away, along with their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path, from Somerset to Dorset, through Devon and Cornwall.
Carrying only the essentials for survival on their backs, they live wild in the ancient, weathered landscape of cliffs, sea, and sky. Yet through every step, every encounter, and every test along the way, their walk becomes a remarkable and life-affirming journey. Powerfully written and unflinchingly honest, The Salt Path is ultimately a portrayal of home—how it can be lost, rebuilt, and rediscovered in the most unexpected ways.

I didn’t think I would enjoy this book as much as I did, one that went from an audiobook while doing some work to downloading it on my kindle to finish the rest and be completely immersed in the story. Made me very grateful for everything I have.
I listened to the Anne Reid audio version. Superbly read! I wasn’t sure I would enjoy a book about an older couple cheated out of their home, left destitute and then decide they would backpack along the 500+ mile southwest coastal path. But it was quite uplifting. It just highlights the human resilience.
I struggled to get into this book, it was only after I hit pg100 or so that I started to get into it... would i reccomend it...? Maybe to those who like books based on fact but other than that probably not
I did like some of the descriptions though.. my favourite one being about the surfers being described as sea dancers
Easily one of the most boring books I've ever read. I love the cover and I love hiking and traveling, but this was downright dull. Very repetitive also. I wouldn't recommend it.
