So Connie packs a bag, gets in her little green car and drives off...

As Connie journeys from England to Scotland on an unexpected adventure, she finally begins to rediscover herself. And she starts to wonder, will she ever be ready to return home? Or will this summer change her life forever?

The Runaway Wife is an inspiring and joyously uplifting novel about being true to yourself. If you loved The Kicking the Bucket List and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry this book is for you.

Connie McColl has had enough. She is sixty six years old and barely recognizes herself. Is all she meant to do is be a mother, wife, and grandmother, or is there more to life than that. In order to find out, Connie packs up and hops in her little green car and heads for the hills. While traveling from England to Scotland, our mighty Connie finds herself in some of the most unique situations, from a robbery to a new hit movie, she’s experiencing it all. And although she she’s going it alone, she finds the best of friends. It’s the life she never imagined she could have, but now that it’s right in front of her will she be able to return to her life before? This book was different from what I normally read, but it was unexpectedly surprised by how much I felt that I could relate to some of the characters and see people in my own within some of the characters as well. I think that’s what made me like the story as much as I did. Connie reminds me of my own mother. Loving life always taking care of others but not really herself. I do hope that someday she takes on her own adventure and goes out and see the world. I saw a lot of myself in Diana (Di). I’m always the child rooting everyone on a supporting my mom when I can. I think that I would have the same attitude as she did if my mom told me she was finally going to love her life and find herself. I recommend this read to anyone who feels stuck. I think that it really helps to open your mind and think about what’s out there. It definitely makes me what to go out and explore the world. I think this book is also good for moms. I think that it shows that you are allowed to be your own person and you can’t let anyone stop you, even your own children.
