My suggestion because this is an exquisite collection of beautifully crafted short stories. Not a word wasted. Most of the stories have unexpected twists that throw you off balance and make you think about how you preconceive an ending. Highly recommend this book.

Short stories that pack a punch!

I have never been a short story lover, but I was so blown away by this little book that I insisted my daughter read one of the stories so we could talk about it. She did, and said, “Wow. That was depressing.” I was stunned; Completely deflated.

Ok, maybe she’s right. I suppose the stories could be depressing, BUT they weren’t for me. My experience with them was that I was immediately drawn inside and held there to the finish. Carys Davies' writing is succinct, yet it dramatically portrays the setting, characters, personalities, and events that lead to unpredictable, jaw-dropping surprise and awe.

If a book has this author’s name on it, I’ll read it with confidence that I will not be disappointed. Nor deflated. : )
