For fans of the series, The Raven King is the long-awaited conclusion to the very much loved characters of Blue, Gansey, Ronan, Adam, and Noah. I found myself reading so slowly, prolonging the inevitable end. Once I hit a little past the midpoint, I couldn't resist any longer. I furiously absorbed the rest. And now I'm still trying to process it all. That's about all I'll say to those who haven't read it yet. It should be read with no expectations or preconceived outcomes. If you've read it, you can read below for my more in-depth review.
The last book in the series is definitely more dark and malevolent. Every action of the characters feels weighted and full of meaning. Things have quickly progressed, specifically the relationships. While the other three books felt like hints and teases of things to come, suddenly the reader is getting answers. It almost felt like I'd missed something, but not in a bad way. I kept thinking the week that occurred between Blue Lily, Lily Blue and The Raven King must have been full of character growth. I have only read The Raven King once, and it usually takes me at least two reads to really process it all, but some of my initial thoughts were it seemed a bit more heavily Ronan/Adam focused, and I was hoping for a more Blue/Gansey focus. I may feel differently after a re-read. And I was a little disappointed with the kiss. This is a potential kiss that sparked the whole story, and the readers have waited a long time for it. I expected a little more time spent on it. Once again, a re-read may change that opinion too. My last observation was that it ended on Ronan, when I felt like it should end how it started, with Blue. But all these are things I can live with. Overall, I was thrilled with the outcome, especially that Maggie left a few mysteries unanswered, thus giving us hope for more novels some time in the future. The Raven Cycle has earned a spot among my most favored series.
*Updated after my reread. My initial review still stands, but it was much better than I even remembered. Still wanted more time on the the kiss. And still wanted more Blue/Gansey, but now that Call Down the Hawk is out, the Ronan/Adam focus makes more sense.

I'm going to be crying sad and happy tears in the corner. I think I need a book timeout. It's going to take some time getting over this one.
welllllllllllll... it started like an English horse and ended like a sea horse? idk, it was just too good at the start and the middle and then its end was kind of... underwhelming?
how can put it in words when you expected something to happen and it so obviously doesn't and it is good and oh man how. what. idk. FUCK.
I still have a shiton of questions.
