I really enjoyed the anecdotes in the book, and I loved seeing how Dr Brown herself developed as a person as a result of her work. I particularly connected with the fabulous depictions of the class divide dotted throughout.
Nothing particularly new or shocking (although I guess that depends on your own life experiences), but it really did highlight how different our world is to different people, even from the POV of the writer.
Some parts of the writing itself felt repetitive at times (e.g. using the same adjectives and turns of phrase), and I think the editing could've helped with this. It made the book less engaging IMO and made it seem like the doctor had quite a superficial understanding/view of the realities of what her patients went through. I'm sure that in many ways this isn't accurate, but the repetitiveness made it feel that way. Also, since she was a GP, she most likely didn't spend that much time with the same people on a regular basis, and that's acknowledged in the book. I found that difficult to connect with, but perhaps that's because of my own experiences and career.
Overall, a good fast-paced read, but nothing too deep.
