A classic story of magic, mystery, and adventure in a fairy-tale world.

Read aloud with my kids (ages 8 and 5). This is a sequel; I would definitely recommend reading "The Princess and the Goblin" first. The first book was more fast-paced. This follow-up focused more on Curdie, his growth and maturity; I ear-marked several beautiful passages. The story moves slower with bursts of violent action scattered throughout. The ending tied up rather quickly for such a long build, with a bizarre twist on the last page.
