I really enjoyed The Power of Letting Go by John Purkiss. It’s one of those books that feels simple at first but gets more meaningful the more you think about it. The author’s calm, practical approach made me realize how often I hold on to things—whether it’s control, fear, or old emotions—and how freeing it can be to just release them. What I loved most was how he broke “letting go” into everyday steps like being present, trusting life, and accepting what is. It’s such a peaceful reminder that we don’t always have to push so hard; sometimes things work out best when we stop forcing them.

This is my first time being part of a Book Club and it's been fantastic! On my own, I would have read quietly and simply moved on to the next book. But hearing other people, their stories, recognizing similarities, seeing different perspectives, and especially learning through our group discussions gave this so much more meaning. The book itself is a simple read. It met me where I was and called me out, but in the best way. Then our talks turned those lessons into real conversations about life, control, love, peace, trust... all the things we all struggle with in different ways. I rate this one 10/10 for how it made me pause, reflect, consider things I might not have ever thought about or face. It also felt good to realize I'm not alone and I'm not the only one learning to let go.

The content presented is subtle, but when you take a step back and take in how many pages you read in a session you realize how complex everything mentioned is, which in my experience, was quite fascinating. Everything is connected, everything is used to form the bigger picture, and everything comes together nicely. Not one topic mentioned in this novel was out of touch.
This started off really strong, with the meditations and how easy it can be to free your mind from constantly "thinking" by focusing on your breath with engaging your five senses. That was a really good takeaway. It then became redundant quickly because he showed how different experiences can come back to focusing on the present (reducing stress, anxiety, and so many negative emotions or actions), having gratitude, and releasing negative beliefs. The information is useful, but the book did not have to be over 100 pages at most. Also, "A friend of mine" is repeated so many times, that I automatically said it before the explanations were over.
