I enjoyed this historical fiction book series in San Francisco in 1906. Gemma is a singer and Suling is talented with needle arts. Both are connected to a wealthy man who is a patron of the arts. It is somewhat of a thrill with a lot of excitement especially around the time of the earthquake.

Loved the strong and varied women. However, sometimes the characters made decisions that were way out of character. The ending, also improbable, was pretty satisfying. Also enjoyed the historical setting of the San Francisco earthquake.

It was a little unbelievable in places but I still found it a good read.

This was so fun to read! Loved the storylines, they weaved together perfectly, I loved all the characters and the history. It isn't as sad as a lot of other hf books, which was nice. Enjoyed how the women all came together and supported each other. I'm not sure why it's not rated as high for others, but its an 8 or 9 for me. Loved both narrators and liked hearing the authors notes at the end and getting to know more of the history.
