When plots get too complicated, I usually don't like the book. It's a bit much to believe that Todd would have the ability to kidnap, torture and kill ... was it 3 or 4 women? ... to get to his main two revenge victims. Also, I was expecting the usual, "ah, the detective will of course end up in a couple with the helpless but pretty and adorable witness," but it turned a corner and didn't happen, but in a good way. And then he seemed attracted to the shrink, who of course was attracted to him as well, even though she was married. But, of course, who'd a thunk - the shrink's husband was having sex with her sister, naturally, which we all suspected since he wasn't busy complaining that the free-loading sister was living with them. Hey, she's paying "rent" one way or another, right? And since she's a sociopath, it's all the same to her, plus the bonus of getting to feel superior to her sister in some way. However, even though all the murderers die, no one walks off in the sunset with each other, as the would-be couple watches out for their respective mental health, and the shrink moves continents away to find herself again, while he will go on to solve more mysteries and become the star of his mystery series. All that said, I really really liked the philosophical question underlying the whole mystery - what about those memories that we'd like to erase?

Lots of nice twists and turns in this. And Frost is one if those characters that has the depth and integrity to become beloved.
In this one psychiatry meets serial killer and grief. Memories are erased for good and evil purposes. If you could forget your mist painful experience, would you?
