Carefully selected by the creative minds at storytelling phenomenon The Moth, and adapted to the page to preserve the raw energy of stories told live, onstage and without notes, Occasional Magic features voices familiar and new. Inside, storytellers from around the world share times when, in the face of seemingly impossible situations, they found moments of beauty, wonder, and clarity that shed light on their lives and helped them find a path forward.

From a fifteen-year-old saving a life in Chicago to a mother of triplets trekking to the North Pole to a ninety-year-old Russian man recalling his standoff with the KGB, these storytellers attest to the variety and richness of the human experience, and the shared threads that connect us all. With honesty and humor, they stare down their fear, embrace uncertainty, and encourage us all to be more authentic, vulnerable, and alive.

Just so happens that I requested a Kindle book from NetGalley and entered a Goodreads Giveaway and was awarded both! So thank you kindly to Crown Publishing, NetGalley, and Goodreads for the opportunity to read this book. I received a copy in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I truly devoured this book and really could have read this in one sitting, but had to do homework along the way! I really enjoyed reading each and every story and truly felt the emotion behind each story as I read them. It would have been amazing to be in the audience to hear the authors tell their story first-hand. The second story really resonated with me from the lady who was a nurse and what she endured when visitors appeared at her hospital with a patient. I held my breath reading it without even knowing it. This is a book I'll be certain to share with my friends as I feel like there are moments that these stories can help you get through whatever trying time you are trying to get through. Great read!
