this book is ghetto and i love it lol.
Lisara a recently divorced mother of six boys, is doing her best to make ends meet; when an unexpected disaster turns into a blessing. She meets Prime, who ultimately turns her world upside right. now, i love a good urban novel, but Prime was the epitome of "you can take a n*gga out the hood, but you can’t take the hood out the n*gga”. From his demeanor to the way he spoke to the kids and other characters, it was not giving Ethic or Carter [ if you know you know ] Prime is in a lane all his own, i believe the story is LA based, he gives me southern, down south, slim thug/z-ro/trae the truth vibes.
Lisara is a walking contradiction; expressing how much she needs help and when she’s being slapped with help, she doesn’t want it. SIS make up your mind.
i could do without the audiobook, the male reader gave me the feeling of imposter syndrome. Maybe because i was listening at 1.2 speed, which isn’t super fast; but his voice just wasn’t fitting for me.
Overall, the book was a good listen, and entertaining, to say the least. i’m going to pick up the next one, although i believe this is a standalone; but in a series. lol
