My thoughts are all over the place after this one. Gay husband. Sugar daddy who turns out to be father in law. Six sons by gay ex husband. New husband who is a gangsta and a rich bank owner. And so much more. I probably wouldn’t have read this if not for a friend. Not my kinda book but I was intrigued. A bit thrown off with some events that took place but I did enjoy this one.
A messy good time.. Lisara and Devonte: married 17yrs and 6 sons later: Khari, Lequay, Bashir, Cemone, Shakur, Unique.. walked in on her husband, the pastor getting head from the deacon.. she divorced and became single struggling parent working 2 jobs and could barely pay rent on time.. landlord came to see her and felt bad for her as a struggling mother and also attraction.. he was Chionte St. Thomas, the successful bank owner and also Prime, the known kingpin.. he was with Nori, the mother of his son Asif and she only wanted Prime and hated her own son.. she was a terrible mother.. but she had stuck by him when he went thru Cancer and he felt loyalty to her until he got fed up with her mothering skills.. started sleeping with her bff Tangy, who ended up falling for him as well.. lots of mess and betrayal.. Lisara son Shakur had a heart condition and Prime married her to help get him insurance and then fell for her.. her son Khari was a hothead but good rapper and did poor Couture so wrong.. Laquay loved the fast money and wanted to be a kingpin too, but he was smart.. Cemone was the basketball hooper.. Bashir wanted to be lawyer and had crazy girlfriend who threatened to kill her self if he broke up with her.. Cemone was the basketball hooper, Shakur had the heart condition and Unique was bff with Prime son Asif.. Lisara, while dancing prior to marriage, she messed with Block to get money and found out it was Prime daddy.. a hot mess.. but they overcame.. Tangy and Nori tried to get Lisara killed and instead her cousin Sarecka died.. Prime got revenge on Tangy and sent Nori to crazy house.. his parents divorced .. he and Lisara had daughter Banks.. craziness
Decent urban storytelling. I'm invested enough to read the rest of the series.
This book started from the beginning to get and keep my attention. I wanted more of Prime and Mrs St. Thomas. Enjoyed this one. Even though it was audio, the readers were great.
