This was part of the Folk of the Air series- a small perspective from Taryn. I read it because im a must read every book in the series reader but it wasnt a detrimental part of the story and I wasnt as drawn in- I wanted to get back to the MC story. So if youre not like me dont worry about missing out- its a perspective of Judes sister and an apology of sorts.

Listen, I'm tired of Cardan apologists shitting on Taryn, this confirms that Cardan knew all along and he didn't say shit either. They are equally terrible people and Jude loves both of them. She has bad taste. It's fine. I really like that everyone is a terrible person here and yet they find their own happiness. Taryn at least never actively tried to humiliate Jude, so if I'm supposed to forgive Cardan for that, I may as well forgive Taryn for trying to secure her own survival. Cardan thinks he delivered a burn, but in my opinion, being awful and NOT knowing is better than being awful and knowing. Because you could find out and do something about it, but choosing not to? Yeah, that's not a burn but self-immolation. ANYWAY I DISGRESS. All in all there was little news in here but I liked getting a few more glimpses into what was going on behind the scenes in cruel prince and I love all these horrible little gremlins.

This short story is key to understanding why a lot of things happened in the main novel but honestly? No one cares, Taryn, literally no one cares.

A nice supplement to the Cruel Prince
