This is the second book I’ve read by Julie Clark. I discovered this among her work after reading The Last Flight, which was really good. The book summary gives a brief description of the two MC’s, Meg and Kat. The story flips back and forth between three different timelines: present day/LA, 10yrs ago/LA and then two years ago/Reading, PA. What the book summary doesn’t reveal is why Kat is after Meg. Meg unintentionally sent Kat to a person of interest, for a story Kat was working on as a reporter for the LA Times. The person of interest was a rapist who raped Kat. This is not a spoiler because it was revealed really early in the story.
While the book summary indicates that Meg, who is a con artist, appears to be setting up another target and the plan is somewhat of a mystery to Kat. By the halfway point, Clark makes it perfectly clear who and what the target is. At that point, the only mystery is whether or not Kat, who is targeting Meg, will get her revenge for what Meg did to her 10yrs ago. This is when I should have DNFed the book.
Unfortunately, I hung in until about the 65% before I had enough. A boring and disappointing read, especially after liking The Last Flight.

A domestic thriller following a female Robin Hood (Meg) that cons corrupt men, takes them for all their worth, and distributes the spoils amongst those he wronged, and the journalist (Kat) that crossed her path and is trying to catch her for a life changing story.
Written from both women’s perspectives I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one. I wouldn’t say it’s twisty or necessarily unique, but the two main female characters and their strange relationship was well written and the feminist undertones were enjoyable, especially when Meg would destroy their entire lives. This was a fun, engaging, domestic thriller and I’m excited to read more by this author. This was a nice relaxing comfort read!
