What I liked: An interesting story about a wealthy NYC couple’s overseas adoption of a baby girl and complicated issues related to China’s One Child policy. What I disliked: Book is incorrectly marketed as a thriller. No mystery, as all is obvious from the beginning. This is contemporary women’s fiction.
It’s been while since I read a book that I didn’t want to put down. In less than 24 hours I read this cover to cover and felt all the feelings: OMG, internally screaming, putting two and two together. It was wonderful! I never read a book with Asian representation before but this was beautifully done and I will have to read more from this author.
Enjoyable read. I found it compelling as we went thru this woman's journey. A riveting mystery with an ending you didn't see coming. We feel for Jasmine as she goes thru her struggles.
