The book that has everything
This story has so much depth. It makes you think. It plays on the the best and worst of human nature. It has romance, history, drama, and lots of grieving/loss. It took a bit for the story to pick up the pace but it’s well worth the time.

Ohh... I really wanted to love this book. The hype, the rave reviews. So well written. It really did transport me at times to the location, the scenario, the time. The first fourth of the book got me...
Unfortunately, this book falls short in the following ways:
1) Wokeness: OK, I've read MANY books that try too hard to be 'woke'. Now this book doesn't even lift one eyelid out of slumber. Yes, we have one black character who is LGBTQ and another 2 or so white males who fit. So many opportunities for this literary work to be more than what it was.
2) Repetitiveness: there are several themes that are repeated over and over and over again. I got it the first time. LOL.
3) Rushed: the last fourth/third of the book was rushed. I'm not sure if I buy in to some the new plot elements that were brought in at the end of the book.
4) Gods: I am an atheist/agnostic. Yet, I wanted to understand more about the gods... I don't think I understood the system.
Despite all these issues, loved the writing, the imagery, the story.
