It was interesting to have OCD representation, especially as four is also significant for me. I could relate to the main character from that point of view, and it was good to see it not just in a flippant way about cleaning.
The setting is creepy, but I would have liked the supernatural dialled up a notch.
I did want to find out what would happen, so that kept me listening, though I think it is somewhat predictable. The history of the house and the original occupants were the interesting and most surprising parts.
I think it worked well to have the switching timelines, as it slowly revealed more of what happened and also made you understand better the motivations of the characters in the present.
I did find some bits a tad frustrating though, and the main character came out with some contradictory things at times. Discrepencies that I feel were there brought me out of the story, which is reflected in my rating.
The narrator is good, and I think this is a good way to consume the story.
I really wanted to love this book it was very slowly unraveling. More like mystery not a thriller.
