Intrigue, riches, and romance abound in this thrilling sequel to the beloved bestselling The Inheritance Games

The Inheritance Games ended with a bombshell, and now heiress Avery Grambs has to pick up the pieces and find the man who might hold the answers to all of her questions--including why Tobias Hawthorne left his entire fortune to Avery, a virtual stranger, rather than to his own daughters or grandsons.

Thanks to a DNA test, Avery knows she's not a Hawthorne by blood, but clues pile up hinting at a deeper connection to the family than she had ever imagined. As the mystery grows and the plot thickens, Grayson and Jameson, two of the enigmatic and magnetic Hawthorne grandsons, continue to pull Avery in different directions. And there are threats lurking around every corner, as adversaries emerge who will stop at nothing to see Avery out of the picture--by any means necessary.

The second installment in The Inheritance Games series took on a more mature theme. The love triangle is still going strong between Avery, Jameson, Grayson and I'm interested to see how this will play out in the subsequent books. Overall this series is nothing game-changing in the genre, but for me they are fun palette cleansers in between heavier reads. The humor is clean and the twists and turns are fun.

I very much enjoyed this one again, but it still felt like the ending was botched. The additional twist actually detracted from the story more than it added. But I'll still be reading book 3, waiting for the romance to heat up a little more.

I absolutely love this series! The Hawthorne Legacy continues the thrilling adventure with Avery and the Hawthorne brothers. While the challenges and puzzles are engaging, I did find myself questioning the lengths to which the game creators went. At times, it felt like it would have been simpler for them to just leave a note saying "Blah Blah is your father" is instead of making them jump through so many hoops and possibly not even paying attention to said hoops until many years later or even..never. Despite that, I still enjoyed the book overall, especially the twists that kept me guessing. The pacing is fast, and the character dynamics are captivating. I'm excited to move on to the next book in the series!

If you thought the first one gave you a ride, buckle up because this one is filled with more twists, turns, secrets, riddles, puzzles, chess, and everything that made this series unique in the first place.

For those who really got lost as I did, I will include a family tree to break things down and make it easier. If you don't want the spoiler, STOP! DON'T READ ANY FURTHER!!! You have been warned and proceed at your own spoiler. I am not responsible if you feel I ruined it for you.

-Tobias Hawthorne Sr. had 3 children:
1) Zara
2) Skye
3) Toby (adopted)

- Skye had four sons -
1) Nash
2) Grayson
3) Jameson
4) Xander

- The Laughlins had a daughter named Mallory.
- Mallory who had a son with Liam or William
- Liam or William is Vincent Blake's son
- Mallory and Liam (William) have three children:
1) Toby
2) Emily
3) Rebecca

- Toby had a daughter with a waitress he met on his way to Hawthorne Island named Evelyn or Eve.

*Mallory is Eve's grandmother. Again, Mallory was impregnated by William Blake and gave birth to Toby. The family had Mallory give up the baby thinking it will be adopted by some other family and NOT the Hawthorne family. Tobias pulled the old switch and adopted Toby Jr. and didn't tell the Laughlin family. It wasn't scandalous yet because the Laughlin family thought Tobias Sr's wife had given birth to the baby and was not adopted by The Hawthornes. It wasn't until they saw Toby Jr. grow up and look more like a Laughlin. That's when they figured it out. They hated Toby Sr for this but still loved Toby Jr. That is why when Rebecca's mother got drunk, she was crying and said, "she lost her babies" as in plural.
