Wow, my heart is full of emotions. What a wonderful book. It's bringing tears to my eyes.
To Kill a Mockingbird gives us such a clear view into a complex and conflicted time in US history. Through a child's eyes, Harper Lee dives into racial injustice, prejudice, and the loss of innocence, all happening during the Great Depression and the oppressive Jim Crow era.
This book definitely tackles some tough subjects, but not darkly or depressingly. Instead, it handles them with the candor and subtle irony that only a brilliant author like Harper Lee could borrow from an 8-year-old. It's truly a literary masterpiece with absolutely nothing to criticize.
I'm not going to read Go Set a Watchman because, for me, if something's perfect, you just don't mess with it. This story and everything I learned from it will stay with me forever. Thank you, Ms. Lee.
