I felt like some consequences of rands behaviours were unexplored and not taken to the end of the line. His boss fight seemed really random. I’m glad there’s the constant striving of main characters throughout the book to be good people. A lot of details were written that served no purpose while other details that could have added psychological depth were omitted. The pace of the whole book was unnecessarily slow until the climax which whizzed by too fast to really feel plausible to me. Personally, the prose also felt obnoxious with its unnecessary wordiness.
Robert Jordan continues to be one of my favorite fantasy authors and this book just continues the saga of Rand and his friends. Really glad I found this series.
Reread for me - the first 25 chapters or so are a slow burn sort of getting all the players in their places and then it launches forward at a breakneck speed. (At least that's how it goes for me) Once I hit Chapter 26, I read nothing else except for a couple short stories, until I finished. So even though the first bit is a little slow, I still love this book. THE EYE OF THE WORLD will always be special to me for its nostalgia of being the beginning, but THE GREAT HUNT is the book that addicted me to the series!
