I really wanted to like this. It seems like it would hit all my vibes, but it was dull! Not enough magic going on for sure and the plot had almost no serious consequences till there actually needed to be. Also, I think the narrator for the audiobook wasn't quite it for me as well.
Why did I even bother reading this? Well, needed a good light read in between some of the heavier stuff I've been reading. This clearly didn't do the trick- no magic here.
Nine years ago, Rhys broke Vivi’s heart when they had a summer fling and she found out he was “betrothed”. After she gives him a piece of her mind, Vivi and her cousin get drunk and playfully curse him (both are witches). While it was meant to be playful and to help Vivi cope with the heartbreak, there was a weird incident during the “curse”. Neither thought much of it until nine years later when Rhys returns to charge the ley lines and the curse, finally, kicks in. The curse releases chaotic magic into the town and gradually reveals long hidden secrets.
This was fun and so adorable! My one wish was that there maybe could have been more in regards to the chaos the magic caused. Also, the way it was cleaned up was slightly anticlimactic. However, still a fast-paced read and highly enjoyable!
