The Devil's Star

This is one of my favorite Harry Hole stories. He is simultaneously hero and disappointment to those around him and the story is wonderfully unpredictable. Harry is asked to investigate a mysterious death with a detective he knows, but hasn't proved is unethical. Harry declines, returns to his bottle and is soon pulled back into the investigation when another murder is linked to the first. What happens after that is horrifying and delightful. And in the end, good wins over evil.
