The Bat: The First Inspector Harry Hole Novel

Well, we've listened to many of Harry Hole's later exploits and now, after the fact, read the first in the series of mysteries. In this novel, Harry is sent to Australia to investigate the death of a minor celebrity from Norway who had relocated to Australia. He is told to watch but not interrupt the work of the local police and - of course- ends up solving the murder...which ends up to be the work of a serial killer. This book had everything I've come to love about Harry - his humanity, and tenacity; but there was a wittiness to this book that I don't remember as vividly with the other, later novels.
