The Deep: A Novel
From the acclaimed author of The Troop--a book that is "utterly terrifying" (Clive Barker). "Fans of unflinching bleakness and all-out horror will love this novel....Each new shock is freshly disturbing" (Publishers Weekly, starred review). A strange plague called the 'Gets is decimating humanity on a global scale. It causes people to forget--small things at first, like where they left their keys, then the not-so-small things, like how to drive or the letters of the alphabet. Their bodies forget how to function involuntarily. There is no cure. But far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, a universal healer hailed as "ambrosia" has been discovered. In order to study this phenomenon, a special research lab has been built eight miles under the sea's surface. But when the station goes incommunicado, a brave few descend through the lightless fathoms in hopes of unraveling the mysteries lurking at those crushing depths...and perhaps to encounter an evil blacker than anything one could possibly imagine.

Long, boring, dragged on and on and on.
Overall concept could’ve been great but took a sharp right turn like Cutter started writing took a 5 year break came back and said where was I going with this? Idk. But here’s some adjectives.
I thought this was both easy to digest and fun. It was easy to follow along and he was very good at his descriptions especially with the ending.
I expected a lot more from this book. The concept is so intriguing, yet it just wasn’t expressed right for me. The last 50 pages were the most interesting honestly.
The book needs much to be desired. It feels like a bunch of disjointed ideas thrown together then half-a$$ explained in the last 10 pages. I had a hard time keeping interest. I've never seen a main character who I've felt more "meh" to.
Also if you are going to have a character who is a veterinarian they would know that a corn snake constricts their prey (most colubrids don't have venom) AND would NOT use the term "poisonous snakes" 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️.
