The story of the Morales family had me excited as I loved the first book. However, I wasn't as enthralled. For some reason I kept putting it down (which isn't abnormal for me. I read books I'm in the mood for) and not picking it up for weeks. I don't know. Maybe I found it a bit slow?
I found myself both angry at Alex for the way he treated Julie and understanding because his actions were from his cultural upbringing. It's so insane how much Alex sacrifices to take care of his family. He is stronger than he knew! I was constantly trying to figure out how I would survive in their situation but I can't fathom. This story is about family, desperation, loss, and faith. I highly recommend it to anyone but ⚠️ warning it is not a light read.
