4.5! I would say this is a mystery, but could have had more thrill. That being said though, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Right when you think you know what is going on, another curveball is thrown at you, sometimes multiple all at once. There were many times reading this book where I just sat staring at the book with my mouth open. It was definitely hard to put down during the second half!

This book follows 3 teenagers, who's parents were cut off by their mother over 20 years before. They all receive a letter inviting them to their grandmother's island resort over the summer. They hesitantly agree mainly because they want to know why their parents were cut off to begin with and why their grandmother has reached out to them now. Each chapter follows the story from one of the teenagers' point of view and every few chapters we go back in time and follow the parents when they were teenagers. As a reader, you think that this might help you find out what really happened but honestly it just brings up more questions. Through different interactions and little clues, the three try to put the puzzle pieces together and solve the mystery.

Going into this book, I thought, okay so they are going to go to this resort, finally meet their grandmother and solve the mystery of the "you know what you've done" letter that their parents received so long ago. How wrong I was! Of course McManus is going to add WAY more plot twists, characters, and secrets to make this book that much better. And she definitely succeeded! There were several times where I found myself saying "oh that must be it" only to find out that it in fact wasn't and I just had more questions. Some describe this book as a roller coaster and I would agree. McManus builds up the tension, gives you the clues but then completely twists and turns what you were thinking!

I also felt like the character development was spot on. You really start to love the three main characters and hate/question their parents almost as much as they do. With that many characters, it is impressive that she was able to do this so well!

I could go on and on about this book. Bottom line it was an entertaining, mind spinning, amazing mystery!! Even if you are more of a mystery/thriller reader, I highly recommend this book!!

El libro me ha gustado mucho aunque reconozco que un poco menos que los anteriores de la autora. Aun así,como siempre encontramos personajes con secretos inesperados, giros de trama sorprendentes y una historia que te deja con ganas de saber el final desde el principio.

Very good mystery with lots of twists. I wish there could have been more at the end. The reveal of what happened seemed kind of rushed. But even with that I highly recommend!

It was alright. I just felt like it was a bit anticlimactic. And I wasn’t ever on the edge of my seat, which I feel like a good thriller or suspense novel is supposed make you be.

It was interesting enough to finish it but that’s about it.
